Restoration department was established in 2001. At the very beginning restorer was
performing business exclusively connected to permanent display of the Museum of the Town of Kaštela what included restoration and conservation of objects displayed on the second floor of the Vitturi Castle. Bigger and smaller parts of wooden furniture were restored, metal and ceramic objects too. After opening of permanent display to the public the restorer continues working on items archived in the Museum by curator’s choice.
Restoration Department conducts preventive conservation and eventual restoration of items when they are entering the Museum, conditions of archiving the items and he or she also deals with microclimatic conditions in rooms where permanent display is.
We are responsible for exhibiting the items during museum exhibitions as well as of
transporting items when being exhibited outside the Museum and of meeting appropriate
technical conditions of exhibiting.
