Prehistoric means the time from the first appearance of the Early Man – hominids to the creation of the script. This is the longest period of human history, and at the same time the least known one due to lack of written sources. Traditional division divides prehistoric times into stone and metal age. Prehistoric collection in the Museum of the Town of Kaštela contains objects from few important sites in the scope of wider Kaštela’s area. Objects from Mujo’s Cave, from Neolithic site in Resnik, karst sinkholes and burial moulds from Vučevica and Kaštela’s fields are the most represented in the prehistoric part of the new permanent display. Objects in this collection are gathered mostly through archeological research and recognition and acknowledgement.
