8. TEMPLE DECORATION
Site: Gajine, Kaštel Sućurac
Material: silver
Dating: 9th century
Dimensions: link in diameter 63 mm, berry length 34 mm
Description: A big link of circular diameter, on one end soldered to the side hole of the berry, while on the other end it has to be put into the berry. Hollow berry consists of two, in the center connected halves, of elongated, conical shape. Concentric circles were made by granulation on the superficial area; between them are small granulated triangles. Inside the circles are bulges in a shape of small balls. At the ends, with one filigree wire, sections are divided and filled with lines of small granulated triangles, one line of bigger and one of smaller ones; they are facing each other thus the empty area creates a zigzag motif.
